When a film gets a good review, it’s usually unanimous across all the different channels; it looked great, the performances were Oscar-worthy, the effects were spectacular, etc… But when a film gets a bad review, it can turn into one hell of a shit show. But, as long as it’s coming from a professional journalist or blogger, there’s some restraint shown. Sometimes.
When you give the average Joe the chance to talk about a film, then all bets are off. Not sure if you’re familiar with the app Letterboxd, but it’s a social network where you can share your movie thoughts and opinions in realtime amongst followers and friends. Used legitimately, it’s a decent way to get the truth about movies, from people that like the same shit as you.
When used by the insane, it’s a pure and unhinged journey journey into the darkest parts of a movie-lover’s psyche. And some of it gets pretty NSFW.
