Yates’ pub chain has secret ‘minimum 7/10 sexiness policy for recruiting female bar staff’ reveals size 14 worker who was 'turfed out of her job'
A recruitment agency for a pub chain used a "good-looking only" policy for hiring female staff, it has been reported.
Elless Promotions is said to have insisted the women employed as shot girls by the Yates chain in Essex had to be “at least seven” out of 10.
A photo of a larger woman was also posted on social media by the recruitment firm, which said: “This really isn’t suitable for staff is it?”
In one message, according to The Sun , an employee of the company wrote: “I have seen a few ugly girls in your groups.
"Girls need to be 7s and above only!"
Mum Jade Garner, 30, of Billericay, Essex, told the newspaper she was sacked from a part-time role.
The size 14 woman claims she was branded “too fat for our venues” on a WhatsApp group operated by the company.
A Yates spokeswoman told The Mirror the issue would be investigated.
"We are unable to comment on the recruitment or management policies of Elless promotions but it is our understanding that the Area Manager in question was an employee of theirs and is no longer working for them," a spokeswoman said.
"We have received no direct complaints in regard to their work for us but as part of our own due diligence have launched our own investigation on their approach.”
Full-time staff were said to be recruited through Yates’ parent business, the Stonegate Pub Company.
Elless had not responded to inquiries.
