'You brainless moron!': Piers Morgan blasts Texas Attorney General after he claims the 'only way to stop mass shootings is for MORE people to take guns to church'
A furious Piers Morgan absolutely lost it discussing the Texas massacre on Good Morning Britain this morning.
He's made no secret of his anti-gun stance in the past, so hosting the breakfast show the day after the mass killing it was no surprise that Piers struggled to keep his cool.
At least 26 people were killed when a gunman walked into a Sunday morning service and opened fire.
Giving the latest update on the story, an already seething Piers informed viewers that Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton had just told Fox News that the 'only way to stop mass shootings like this was for more people to take guns to church.'
The statement utterly enraged Piers who struggled to hide his fury as he read from his sheet.
"He's so right, isn't he?" he added sarcastically.
"That's so obviously the answer isn't it? You brainless morons," said the host raising his voice. "Sorry but that's what you are Texas Attorney General: a brainless moron!"
As Susanna attempted to speak, a riled Piers interrupted her.
"How can it not be a gun situation Mr Trump?' Piers fumed, raising his hands to his head in despair.
"If he doesn't have a gun he can't kill people with a gun. This is not rocket science," he fired.
Susanna looked visibly shocked at his outburst and stumbled on her words as she tried to move forward with the show.
While viewers at home flocked to Twitter to share their support for Piers.
"Good to have you back! Someone that will confront the issues others just sweep under carpet. Gun control is so needed!" said one.
"Piers Morgan is having one of those odd days where he’s actually talking sense," added another.
Earlier in the programme, Piers spoke to a Gun Rights Advocate via video link and struggled to hide his feelings yet again.
"When are you people in America going to stop talking nonsense about guns and stop your young people being annihilated in the way that we are seeing?" he ranted.
The shooter has now been named by US media as Devin Patrick Kelley.
Keeley is reported to have entered the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, a small community south east of San Antonio and fired at defenceless worshippers.
The 26-year-old was wearing all black tactical gear and a bullet proof vest as he shot people of all ages.
Twenty three people were found dead in the church, two outside and the 26th victim died after being transported to hospital.
The youngest victim was a five-year-old and the oldest a 72-year-old - but the death toll may rise, authorities have warned.
