'Hope you manage to nail Pablo Escobar': Police threaten to ARREST Facebook users who mocked them over a post boasting that patrols had seized a tiny amount of cannabis from a youth in a nature reserve (5 Pics)

COPS threatened to arrest jokers who mocked their tiny drug bust of a small lump of cannabis seized from a man in a park.

Officers from West Yorkshire Police - Wakefield Rural posted about the "small quantity" of drugs taken from a "young man who was parked up alone" on Tuesday.

But after the response to their efforts was less than complimentary, they hit back by banning some Facebook users from their page, and threatened prosecution.

One person replied with "you're a clown", while another asked "did you feed the ducks?" and adding "getting paid for a nice bike ride in the park".

Another cheeky commentor posted: "Hope you manage to nail Pablo Escobar this afternoon."

It was shared widely on social media, with users elsewhere writing: "Wow that's put a dent in the war on drugs lol."

Some users appreciated their policing of the nature reserve however and offered suggestions of where else they should patrol.

But the damage had been done as another post from the force today read: "Unfortunately we have had to ban a number of people from using this page today.

"I would like to remind everyone that this is a police page and whatever your thoughts on one of my officers seizing drugs in the community, being insulting, abusive or offensive can and will result in a prosecution under the Malicious Communications Act 1988."

"We will not overlook the significant harm that illegal drugs cause to our communities.

"We know from experience that this can progress from using what are perceived to be recreational drugs to more addictive and harmful substances and the resulting criminality used to fund their continued use.

"Please use this page with respect or you will be banned and maybe even prosecuted."

The same force has been mocked before for previous posts.

Last month they seized two crates of Strongbow from underage youths.

One person responded to the picture of the two boxes back at the station with: "Well done try do something bigger next week perhaps catch sum pimps or maybe drug dealers or they too big to handle."

Another added: "Good policing but sure more effort should be focusing on searching for knifes and offensive weapons rather than a few kids with some cider!

"Crimes are getting worse and your wasting police time confiscating a few cans of cider."

But some stuck up for the cops, with one person writing: "We can all pick and choose what we want our reducing numbers of police officers to deal with but life isn't like that.

"One of the big problems which has been around for years is nuisance teens getting drunk."
