Patrons don’t tip server because they ‘don’t tip [terrorists].’ He’s a Christian — with a message.

Khalil Cavil, a 20-year-old restaurant server at an Odessa, Texas, eatery, revealed that he received a bigoted message on one of his receipts.

What are the details?

The message conveyed that the patrons whom he’d served on Saturday evening would not be tipping him because they “don’t tip [terrorists].”
The total bill came to $108.73, and Cavil received no tip on the check.
The patrons circled his first name on the receipt, and wrote, “We don’t tip terrorist [sic].”

The thing is, Cavil isn’t a terrorist, or a Muslim, or even a person with middle eastern roots — and he’s a Christian, to boot.
Cavil told KPEJ-TV that his parents named him after a fallen military pal who was also named Khalil.
“My dad was in the military and a buddy that he was very close to, served with him … Khalil was killed in an accident and so my dad just named me after him, one of his best friends,” he said according to KPEJ.
“My heart just dropped, I didn’t know what to [say] or what to think in the moment but there’s hurt there,” Cavill said.
According to the Odessa American, Khalil means “friend” in Arabic.
“It was not about the money. It was never about the money, it’s about shedding the light on an issue I feel very passionate about,” Cavil told KPEJ, and said that it was his faith in God that prompted him to share his story on a public level.
“I just had to think … what would Jesus do in this situation?” he told the outlet.
On Sunday, Cavil shared a photo of the receipt on his Facebook page.
He captioned the snap, “Last night at work I received this note from one of my tables. At the moment I didn’t know what to think nor what to say, I was sick to my stomach.”
“I share this because I want people to understand that this racism, and this hatred still exists,” Cavil added. “Although, this is nothing new, it is still something that will test your faith. All day I’ve had to remind myself that Jesus died for these people too. I have decided to let this encourage me, and fuel me to change the world the only way I know how.”
He concluded, “So to all the haters out there, keep [talking], [you’re] only helping me step into my destiny!”

Anything else?

According to a report in the Odessa American, the customer(s) in question are no longer permitted at the eatery.
Company COO Terry Turney told the outlet, “We stand by and support our employee. Racism of any form is unacceptable and we have banned this customer from returning to our establishment.”
