Online food shoppers reveal the baffling substitutions they've received in their Christmas deliveries - including one who had his Quality Street swapped for a BATH MAT[8 Pics]

Christmas shoppers have received the very worst substitutions they've received in their online food shops.  

Twitter users from across the UK shared posts about their festive mishaps - including one father who received a bath mat instead of tubs of Quality Street chocolate. 

Another was left baffled when he was sent HP sauce instead of cranberry sauce - pointing out that he didn't think it would go quite as well with the turkey.

Clare Brown, a mother-of-six from Warwickshire, was offered the distinctly less festive HP sauce instead of cranberry in her shop

Another Welsh Twitter users was given Kiwi branded shoe polish instead of the fruit

Rhodri Marsden, who plays with Leeds-based post-punk band Scritti Politti, was given turmeric instead of nutmeg

Claire Harffey, from Windsor, was given just one rump steak in exchange for a huge roast beef joint

Colin Seabrook, from Romford in east London, tried to make pancakes with his kids but was given lemon wipes instead of lemons

Another Twitter user was given sweet potatoes instead of peaches, forcing her to head to the shops
