Rep. Rashida Tlaib Who Called Trump ‘Motherf*****:‘Stop Having Sex With Us, Gentlemen. Find Somebody Else to Do It With’
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D.-Mich.), the newly elected congresswoman who last week called President Donald Trump a “motherf****r,” said in 2012 when she was serving in the Michigan state house that men should find somebody other than women to have sex with and that women should boycott men in retaliation for an abortion-restriction bill that passed the state house.
“I am disappointed, Mr. Speaker, that we are launching a war on women today while doing nothing to launch a war on poverty,” she said.
“In that case, stop having sex with us, gentlemen,
find somebody else to do it with,” she said, according to the Rachel Maddow show on MSNBC.
find somebody else to do it with,” she said, according to the Rachel Maddow show on MSNBC.
“Seriously, I ask women to call Michigan to boycott men until these bills stop moving out of the House,” Tlaib said. “Oppose this bill for the love of your wives, for the love of your daughters and for the love of mothers.”
A June 14, 2012 story in the Detroit Free Press described the bill Tlaib was reacting to and quoted part of her statement:
“All 64 Republicans and six Democrats in the state House joined forces Wednesday to approve sweeping new restrictions on abortion.
The bill would increase insurance and regulations on abortion clinics, regulate the disposal of fetal remains, prohibit the use of teleconferences to prescribe abortion medication and make it a crime to coerce a woman into having an abortion. … The 70-39 vote came after nearly an hour of emotional debate.”
The Free Press story went on to say:
“And state Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Detroit, recommended that women withhold sex from their partners until the Legislature stopped the bills.
"'We're launching a war on women,’ she said. ‘Stop having sex with us, gentlemen, and I ask women to boycott men until they stop moving this through the House.’
On Sept. 9, 2018, the Free Press wrote a profile of Tlaib, who was then running unopposed and assumed to be the next member of Congress from the district formerly represented by Rep. John Conyers. The Free Press noted of Tlaib:
"Tlaib, when she is sworn in Jan. 3, will make history, not only as a Muslim woman and the first Palestinian-American woman elected to Congress, but as the full-term replacement for U.S. Rep. John Conyers - a civil rights legend who ended a 53-year-long career amid scandal nine months ago. Given her district - and her willingness to make her voice heard - she also will become a national voice on poverty, civil rights, equality, crime and a whole range of urban issues, when she is sworn in on a 1734 translation of the Quran, apparently purchased by a curious Thomas Jefferson, that now resides in the Library of Congress….
“She's an observant Muslim, and proud of her faith, but does not attend prayers as often as some."
