FRANKEL: Men Can Only Have Opinions On What Women Can Do With Their Bodies On One Condition
A few weeks ago, South Bend, Indiana mayor and Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg delivered a speech in which he unequivocally declared his position on life. Buttigieg is unapologetically pro-abortion, and of course, he framed his position through the hackneyed lens of “freedom” — especially in the distorted sense that men should not be making decisions about women’s bodies, under the guise that a man having an opinion on abortion policy amounts to the taking away of freedom from women.
Buttigieg stated that, “you’re not free if your reproductive choices are being dictated by male politicians in Washington.”
This isn’t surprising in the least, because every other Democrat candidate is pro-abortion. When Buttigieg appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” with host Joe Scarborough in February, Scarborough asked him if he supports the late-term abortion laws passed in New York and proposed in Virginia. At the time, Buttigieg responded, “I don’t think we need more restrictions right now…the involvement of a male government official like me is not helpful.”
Because gender matters. Fluidity isn’t really a thing. Or is it? How leftists square that circle is beyond me, but I digress.
We’ve all heard the argument before that men shouldn’t be making choices about women’s bodies, and the emptiness of it is obvious. Gender should not matter in lawmaking for any reason. Murder is murder. Theft is theft. Jaywalking is jaywalking. No matter who writes, passes, enforces or violates the law, the law is what the law is.
However, there is another obvious problem about which the Left seems not to have a care in the world — the fact that we already have men making decisions based on women’s “reproductive choices.” They just all happen to be pro-abortion.
Last time I checked, radical pro-abortion New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is male. Virginia Governor Ralph Northam is, as well. And it’s pretty safe to assume that much of the New York and Virginia legislators are male, too.
Yet, the pro-abortion lobby loves these males meddling in women’s health and “reproductive rights.”
It’s also interesting that many women go to male gynecologists, as well. One would think that, by Buttigieg’s logic, these doctors should immediately take up other work and give their positions to women, because, again, it’s apparently evil for men to have any say in a woman’s "reproductive health." Sure, there’s no evidence that female gynecologists are any better than males, or vice versa, but forget that small fact because the narrative is all that matters. Only women can make decisions on women’s health. And if you differ, you’re a sexist, and deserve to be shunned for life.
Unless, of course, you’re on the Left. Then, feel free to light up the World Trade Center — ironically, a place that’s supposed to celebrate rejuvenation and life after 9/11 — pink in honor of abortion and death.
Oh, I apologize, I meant "abortion" and "choice." Like the choice to remove a pimple.
But, of course, only if a leftist is the one to make that choice.
