University of Kansas class studying angry white males makes some white males angry: 'Utter trash'

A new class being offered at the University of Kansas is angering the group of people it’s set to study.

The class, listed under its College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, is titled “Angry White Male Studies” and plans to examine the “rise of the ‘angry white male’ in America and Britain since the 1950s, exploring the deeper sources of this emotional state while evaluating recent manifestations of male anger,” according to the course listing.

Furthermore, the three credit course hopes to analyze “how both dominant and subordinate masculinities are represented and experienced in cultures undergoing periods of rapid change connected to modernity as well as to rights-based movements of women, people of color, homosexuals and trans individuals.” 

Naturally, such a course title has bristled a few critics, including U.S. Rep. Ron Estes.

“Instead of a course to unite people and empower women, KU has decided to offer a class that divides the student population and could pose a Title IX violation by creating a hostile campus environment based on gender,” the congressman tweeted. 

Title IX states, “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”

The course, which is not required, seemed to anger white male students at the school as well. “So glad I’ll be leaving the University of Kansas in June. What a waste of taxpayer money. Indoctrinating students with this marxist trash. Imagine if a certain word was changed? Outrage would be everywhere,” one student tweeted. While another wrote, “Not to sound like an angry white male but what the actual hell is this utter trash?” Both students appeared to be white in their profile pictures, but as we all know, you can be anyone on the internet.
