Video Shows Woman Leaving Abortion Clinic Break Leg of Elderly Pro-Life Volunteer

If a woman came out of an abortion center and backed up a pro-life activist until she fell over and broke her femur, would the pro-abortion movement’s response be to a) condemn the woman who backed up the activist and call for her to face criminal charges or b) try to get pro-life activists banned from outside the clinic?
In Louisville, Kentucky, the answer — at least if you’re talking to a pro-abortion lawyer — seems to be b).
Police are investigating an alleged assault at the state’s only abortion clinic after a woman leaving it got in the face of a pro-life protester and seems to have forced her to the ground, breaking her femur in the process.
According to WLKY-TV, elderly volunteer Donna Durning said the woman pushed her over at the EMW Women’s Surgical Center after Durning tried to give her the card of the pro-life center she’s associated with.
Check out the story here:
Durning has long been active in the pro-life movement, having approached women outside of abortion clinics for 23 years now.
“I was there, as I am five days a week, talking to girls, offering them alternatives to abortion,” she said.
On April 12, however, things were different.
“I had a little card from Little Way Crisis pregnancy center, and I just offered it to her. And I said, ‘Honey, if you need to talk to anybody, there’s a number on here,'” she told WLKY.
In the footage, the unknown woman can be seen getting in Durning’s face, backing her up until she fell down. In addition to the broken femur, she also suffered a head injury.
“I saw a lot of hatred in her face and, I’m not exaggerating, I saw the face of Satan in her eyes,” Durning said.
Here’s video of the incident from a surveillance camera at a crisis pregnancy center next door to the abortion clinic.

She’s now recovering from the broken femur and head injury at a rehabilitation center.

“There literally are nails in my leg, but every day I get a little bit better,” she told the station.
So, getting to the reaction here: Laura Landenwich, a prominent Louisville attorney who’s been active in pro-abortion causes, told WLKY the incident is reason enough to institute a “safety zone” in order to keep protesters away from the clinic.
“That’s a perfect example of how quickly things can escalate in that environment and so it is better for people to keep their space,” said Landenwich, described in the WLKY story only as “a local attorney” who “is on a committee working to convince the Louisville Metro Council to approve a safety zone around the clinic” despite her obvious political leanings in the matter.
“This is about everyone’s safety. This is about the safety of people protesting, entering the clinic, walking down the sidewalk.”

No, no it’s not.
Given that people protesting don’t want the safety zone, it’s clearly not for their safety. The safety of the people entering the clinic, at least in this instance, isn’t in question, nor is there any evidence that people “walking down the sidewalk” are at risk here.
What’s at risk is the freedom to protest.
It’s worth noting that the Supreme Court has found buffer zones to be constitutional.
It’s also worth noting that while Louisville’s local politics skew Democrat, both houses of the state legislature are Republican, as is the governor, making state preemption a distinct possibility if anything gets passed.
However, Planned Parenthood has pushed for a local buffer zone ordinance in the past, with the organization’s chair of the board of Indiana and Kentucky writing in a 2018 commentary for the Louisville Courier-Journal that “(s)ome of the protesters threaten, harass or even assault patients as they arrive at the clinic, physically blocking them from entering or approaching them before they get out of their cars.”
And there’s a glimpse of the mentality at play here. Claiming assault by protesters with a paucity of evidence cited within the piece? Buffer zone.
Evidence of an assault against a protester? Buffer zone.
For the pro-abortion side, it’s a win-win situation.
We still don’t know exactly what happened in that April 12 confrontation, but the fact that the left chose this incident to make hay for their cause based on what we know at present proves there’s nothing that can disabuse them of the notion that they’ve got the solution for everything.
You know, like leftists who believe that disarming law-abiding gun owners will prevent mass shootings.
As for Durning, I would assume she realizes what the buffer zone means, which is why she’s against it.
“I’m there to help mothers and help them save their children,” she told WLKY, adding that when she gets better, “I’ll be back on the sidewalk!”
