Antifa Urges Others To Take ‘Direct Action’ After ‘Martyr’ Taken Down by Police for Failed Firebomb Plan
A self-proclaimed Antifa activist was shot and killed by Washington State Police on Saturday after the 69-year-old man launched an attack on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center in Tacoma, Washington.
Instead of condemning the crazed man’s act of violence — which could have resulted in serious injury — Antifa’s Seattle faction posted a call to action for others to follow in Willem Van Spronsen’s footsteps, labeling their “comrade” a “martyr” and urging a call for “direct action.”
The group published a sickening eulogy-like post commemorating his death on Facebook.
“When our good friend and comrade Willem Van Spronsen took a stand against the fascist detention center in Tacoma, he became a martyr who gave his life to the struggle against fascism. He was kind and deeply loved by many communities; we cannot let his death go unanswered. “
“Throughout history we idolize figures like John Brown for their courage to take the ultimate stand against oppression, and today we stand strong in our support for yet another martyr in the struggle against fascism. May his death serve as a call to protest and direct action,” the Facebook post continued.
The problem here is that Van Spronsen wasn’t some punk armed with a spray paint can. According to The Blaze, the maniacal activist showed up to the detention center packing a rifle and was armed with improvised explosive devices.
He was allegedly upset about a “factually inaccurate portrayal” of the holding facilities.
He launched his firebombs at the building and attacked several vehicles in the parking lot with them as well — even attempting to blow up a propane tank in the process.
That’s when state police engaged the violent attacker, though it was unclear who fired shots first.
Thankfully, nobody was injured during his attack, but given what he was armed with, that’s nothing less than a miracle.
Hundreds of Antifa supporters weighed in on the group’s Facebook post with various words of encouragement. “Rest in Power, comrade” and “He was truly a hero to us all” were just a few.
According to Fox News, Van Spronsen reportedly appeared in a recent episode of a CNN show that apparently glorified radical leftists in the Antifa movement.
Not surprisingly, most of the liberal mainstream media didn’t connect the violent man with Antifa, instead labeling him as an “anti-fascist” and failed to mention that he was acting on behalf of a “far left” group.
That’s in stark contrast to the reporting on conservative journalist Andy Ngo’s attack at the hands of Antifa thugs, which left him in the hospital. The media was quick to label him a “far right” journalist.
Media Research Center Vice President Dan Gainor reportedly told Fox News that “CNN has done more to give the psycho domestic terrorists of Antifa credibility than any other outlet.”
And he’s right — the liberal mainstream media seems to be carefully pushing a narrative that undeservingly paints violent leftists — like the ones who make up the ranks of Antifa — as a type of modern-day hero.
That dangerously irresponsible narrative will inevitably end up with more innocent people, like Ngo, in the hospital or left for dead.
Let’s just be completely honest — it’s time for President Donald Trump’s federal law enforcement agencies to give Antifa the label it truly deserves: Domestic terrorists.
Maybe then, law enforcement on all levels will be able to take more reactive approach to its violent shenanigans and prevent future incidents.
