Limbaugh: Ocasio-Cortez, Pelosi ‘Marriage’ Just Proved Trump’s A ‘Devious Political Mastermind’
While the "working together" moment was supposed to prove to the world that the Democratic Party is not in the middle of a bitter civil war between the old guard moderate-ish wing and the socialist radicals, conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh said it was actually yet more evidence that Donald Trump is "a devious political mastermind."
"You have to acknowledge — we have to acknowledge — what a devious political mastermind Donald Trump is," said Limbaugh (transcript via RushLimbaugh.com). "Donald Trump’s arranged marriage between Pelosi and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was consummated today!"
Limbaugh then highlighted a tweet by Pelosi which included a photo of her and Ocasio-Cortez standing awkwardly close to each other while smiling as if none of the nastiness of the last few weeks took place. "Here is this freshman former bartender who had her official meeting with Pelosi today, and Pelosi called a press conference to announce how well it went, and how gracious a member of Congress Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is," said Rush.

Limbaugh then laid out his point about Trump's "devious" political ploy: "Trump has been trying to make this woman [AOC] the face of the Democrat Party, and today Pelosi welcomed her in a modified gay marriage, if you will, which Pelosi and AOC consummated," he said. "Trump has been pushing this! Trump’s the guy with the shotgun and (laughing) to me, this is fantastic."
"Now, next Pelosi’s gonna have to meet with the other wackos, Tlaib and Ilhan Omar, to complete her consummation of political marriage with 'The Squad'," he added.
While the rift between Ocasio-Cortez and Pelosi really began to develop the first day the freshman stepped foot on Capitol Hill — when she joined a radical environmental group's protest held in Pelosi's office — it worsened dramatically earlier in July when Pelosi slammed "The Squad" for voting against funding to help alleviate the border crisis and taking shots at other Democrats. AOC responded by suggesting Pelosi has a problem with "women of color."
"When these comments first started, I kind of thought that she was keeping the progressive flank at more of an arm's distance in order to protect more moderate members, which I understood," Ocasio-Cortez told The Washington Post two weeks ago. "But the persistent singling out ... it got to a point where it was just outright disrespectful ... the explicit singling out of newly elected women of color."
Pelosi responded the next day by standing by her previous rebuke of "The Squad." "I said what I’m going to say in the caucus. That’s where this is appropriate," the speaker told reporters. "They took offense because I addressed, at the request of my members, an offensive tweet that came out of one of the member’s offices that referenced our Blue Dogs and our New Dems essentially as segregationists. How they’re interpreting and carrying it to another place is up to them. But I’m not going to be discussing it any further."
