Chick-Fil-A CEO Made Covenant With Dad To Uphold Company's Christian Values

According to Business Insider, Chick-fil-A founder S. Truett Cathy wrote in a memoir, titled "Eat Mor Chickin: Inspire More People," that he presented his children with a covenant to always uphold the company's Christian values as it becomes a major force in the culture, which included philanthropic work, never opening on Sunday, and never taking the company public.

"We will be faithful to Christ's lordship in our lives," Cathy's covenant stated. "As committed Christians we will live a life of selfless devotion to His calling in our lives. We will prayerfully seek His leadership in all major decisions that impact our family and others. Our family roles as spouses to our lifelong mates, parents to our children, and loving aunts and uncles will be our priority."

Dan Cathy became the company CEO in 2013 and has since expanded the fast-food chain into an empire, becoming the third-largest chain in the United States. It has remained closed on Sundays and not wavered from its Christian values in the face of progressive bullying. In a statement to Fox News, Chick-fil-A promised to continue delivering on the quality service that has made them so popular.

"We are honored by the ranking and grateful to our customers for choosing Chick-fil-A, it's truly our pleasure to serve them," said the statement. "Our commitment to serving great food with gracious hospitality started more than 50 years ago with our founder's first restaurant. Today, the more than 145,000 individuals who represent the brand in 2,400 restaurants make honors like this possible by continuing his commitment to service."

The left-wing hatred for Chick-fil-A began in 2012 when Dan Cathy expressed support for traditional marriage, prompting boycotts across the country from LGBTQ activists.

"I think we are inviting God's judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, 'We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage,'" Cathy said at the time. "I pray God's mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about."

"We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit," he said on the Biblical Recorder. "We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that. ... We want to do anything we possibly can to strengthen families. We are very much committed to that. We intend to stay the course," he said. "We know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles."

Just last year, two major publications wrote scathing articles begging people to boycott the business: The New Yorker and HuffPost. "If You Really Love LGBTQ People, You Just Can't Keep Eating Chick-fil-A," wrote Noah Michelson of HuffPost. When Chick-fil-A wanted to set up shop in New York City, Dan Piepenring of The New Yorker called it a "creepy infiltration" of the city.
