Tulsi Gabbard: ‘Can You Imagine if Google’s CEO Was a Conservative Republican Shutting Down Democrat Voices?’
Democratic presidential candidate Rep. Tulsi Gabbard has taken a strong stand against Big Tech censorship and is now urging those on the left to imagine if the tables were turned and they were the ones being silenced.
Rep. Gabbard is currently suing Google for $50 million over the company stopping her campaign from purchasing ads while she was the most searched candidate following the first Democrat debate in June.
In a video posted to her YouTube channel, Rep. Gabbard broke ranks with many in her party and took aim at cancel culture.
“We as a country cannot afford to only stand up and fight for our freedoms when we are the targets; but when someone else is a target we turn our backs and walk away. This is a danger for all of us. … Can you imagine if Google’s CEO was a conservative Republican who was shutting down Democrat voices that they disagreed with? Can you imagine how up in arms progressives would be if it were their voices being shut down?” Gabbard asked.
The Hawaiian lawmaker added that “we can disagree with each other, but I will tell you as a soldier that I’m willing to lay my life down to protect the rights and freedoms of every person in this country to speak their voice and make sure that voice is heard.”
This isn’t the first time that Rep. Gabbard has refused to fall in line with the more extreme voices in her party. As The Blaze points out, she has also “revealed her belief that abortion shouldn’t happen during the third trimester, with exceptions — and also criticized fellow Democrats for supporting open borders.”
