Moment Oklahoma cops helping a woman with a broken down car shoot dead her wanted boyfriend after he pulled out a gun
The Tulsa police department in Oklahoma has released shocking police officer bodycam footage after a routine traffic stop turned fatal late last month.
Police were responding to the scene of a woman's broken down car near Harvard and Pine on Sunday 27th October when the shooting happened.
Police claim the woman informed them that her boyfriend, Luis Manuel Arreguin Lara, had left on a bicycle to get tools to fix the broken vehicle, and that he was wanted by police and probably wouldn't come back if he knew officers were on the scene.
Video footage captured by an officer's bodycam shows that Mr Arreguin Lara approached the officers on his bike carrying a tire iron in his hand.
After officers asked him to step off the bike and place the tire iron on the ground, Mr Arreguin Lara reached for a concealed weapon, before being shot dead by three officers.
Police initially reported that Mr Arreguin Lara had opened fire, but investigators said they would need to wait on ballistics tests to confirm.
After the shooting, police officers took the woman back to their station for questioning after finding drug paraphernalia in her vehicle, but she was released without charge.
Local authorities later said that Mr Arreguin Lara had a felony warrent for his arrest and was wanted for kidnapping, forcible sodomy, and sexual battery.
The three officers involved in the shooting are still on active duty and a decision on whether the shooting was legally justified will be ruled on at the conclusion of an investigation by the district attorney.
