TOTO: Is Samantha Bee Late Night Comedy At Its Very Worst?
Samantha Bee kicked off her TBS series “Full Frontal” in 2016 by calling Sen. Ted Cruz a “fish-faced, horses*** salesman.”
The show inexplicably got worse from there.
That hasn’t stopped the industry from fawning over Bee’s far-left shtick. The show earned an Outstanding Writing Emmy, a WGA Award for its two “Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner” specials, plus 17 Emmy nominations in total.
More awards will likely follow given the show’s progressive posture. It’s how Team Bee speaks, though, that is both vile and unlike any of its far-left peers, even Stephen Colbert.
Most people know “Full Frontal” from its host calling First Daughter Ivanka Trump a “feckless c-word.”
“Cancel Culture” hurt its neck looking the other way, something that wouldn’t be the case had the daughter in question’s name been Obama or Clinton. Bee offered a limp apology directly after the kerfuffle, but later joked to NBC’s morning show team that she hadn’t learned much from the incident.
Bee’s show also caught heat for calling a cancer patient a Nazi due to his attendance at CPAC and hairstyle choice. Turns out the style in question was due to radiation and chemotherapy treatments.
Once again, the Social Justice Mob pretended to hear their mothers calling them and ignored that slight.
Those brutal truths came to mind this week when Bee launched a “cancel culture” style attack on PragerU.
The online video series offers political and cultural lessons from a right-of-center, Judeo-Christian perspective. Some are whimsical, to a degree, like Adam Carolla’s “Change Your Life” featurette advocating personal improvement.
Others debunk Fake News memes like a five-minute lesson on the “Charlottesville Lie.” YouTube routinely marks the lessons for adult eyes only, even if nothing in the episodes is remotely R-rated or offensive.
PragerU’s real crime, to Bee, is its unparalleled success. So, weeks after The New York Times (a former newspaper) railed against PragerU, Bee took her own bat to the YouTube channel. She called PragerU a “dangerous” outlet brimming with “brainwashing” content.
PragerU rolled with the punches, announcing it received $25,000 in new donations as a result of Bee’s attack. Game, set, match PragerU.
Not so fast.
It’s worth noting WHAT Bee said on the broadcast and how it captures a progressive mindset that can’t defend its own positions and lashes out in the cruelest of ways.
The six-plus minute segment is Bee at her very worst – no small statement. Out of context news clips. Personal attacks. Faux outrage. And an obvious distaste for the First Amendment.
Why else savage PragerU? Is there a dearth of progressive YouTube channels? Is she afraid the “other side” will be heard?
That’s rhetorical.
Bee says the many PragerU clips are “mostly hosted by the worst people.”
What does that mean? Why are they the worst people? Has her team done an investigation, or is that simply mean spirited to the core?
Again, rhetorical. But President Donald Trump is crushing cultural norms, eh?
