Driver is almost run down TWICE after he stops his car and causes a pile-up in an expressway tunnel in China
A man narrowly avoided being killed in an expressway tunnel when he stopped his car in fast-moving traffic to check a tyre.
Shocking footage shows car smash into the back of the stationary vehicle as passengers flee their cars to get to safety.
The incident was recorded on CCTV in the Qinyuanling tunnel in a mountainous part of Zhejiang Province, east China.
In the video, a white four-wheel-drive car stops in what is believed to be the overtaking lane of the tunnel, and the driver gets out to check on of his rear wheels.
Vehicles coming quickly from behind are forced to evade him one after another, with the situation made worse by a traffic diversion blocking another lane up ahead.
But two cars in the same lane can't avoid the white car, and smash into one after the other.
Fearing for his safety, the man jumps out of the way of the pile-up, but as he runs to the side of the road is nearly hit by another car. He is then left crawling across the road to an emergency parking area.

After getting out to check his back tyre, two cars plough into the back of him and force him to run across the road to safety
Two people then get out of another vehicle in the pile up to look for safety. Seconds later another car slams in to the driver's door. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
An investigation by police found that the second car in the pile up was partly responsible for the accident as it was too close to the first car and did not maintain a safe distance.
The white car had originally stopped due to its malfunction and the passenger got out of the car to check and wanted to place a triangle sign.
The incident occurred on May 5 and was circulated by local media.
