Horrific moment laughing mob of teenage thugs spit at, attack and rob 'key worker' as he lies in the street while one of them boasts 'how is he alive?!'

Brutal footage of a man being kicked in the head and spat on as a gang of youths laugh around him is circulating online.

The victim, who has been named as Karol Machnowski on social media, is kicked in the head as he lays on the floor, as one of the attackers cruelly remarks: 'How is he alive?'

Avon and Somerset Police say it has made four arrests in relation to the incident while a woman, who is thought to be the victim's sister, said he has gone missing following Monday night's brutal assault.

Local police confirmed that a 17-year-old female, 17-year-old male and two 16-year-old males are now in custody on suspicion of robbery.

The brutal attack in Bridgewater, Somerset, starts with one of the group jumping over the 55-year-old as he lays on the floor.

A second male reaches for the victim's pocket before being batted away. The attacker then kicks him in the head and spits on him.

'How is he alive?' one remarks as he rains down another kick to the head.

After the second kick, a voice behind the camera warns: 'Right, don't do anything else because I've got my camera.'

One of the group then appears to reach for the victim's pocket for a second time.  

The video was shared across social media with the caption: 'Hope you're all f***** happy with yourselves, bunch of c*** the lot of you, vile creatures.'

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the alleged victim, stating: 'He was violently attacked on his way home by four thugs.

'He suffered what seemed to be very damaging injuries to his head, this fundraiser is to help him get back what was stolen and help him pay for whatever he needs to help him in these times.'

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said on Wednesday morning: 'We received a call at approximately 11.15pm last night (Tuesday 12 May) about a video on social media that showed an incident at Bridgwater.

'Four people have been arrested on suspicion of robbery – a 17-year-old female, a 17-year-old male and two 16-year-old males. They remain in custody.

'The victim has been identified and officers are taking steps to locate the individual to check on their welfare. CCTV and house-to-house enquiries are ongoing. 

'Anyone who witnessed what happened is asked to call 101, or report it online, giving reference number 5220103361.'
