Girl, ten, 'raped by her uncle' undergoes abortion in Brazil as crowd of religious protesters try to storm the hospital to stop the procedure
A crowd of religious protesters attempted to storm a hospital in Brazil to stop a ten-year-old girl undergoing an abortion after she was 'raped by her uncle.'
The young girl, from Sao Mateus in Espirito Santo, had reportedly been rushed to hospital after complaining of abdominal pains.
She was told she was pregnant, and confessed to medical staff that her uncle had allegedly been raping her since the age of six.
The child added she had never reported him to authorities as he had threatened her, Brazilian news website G1 reported.

Her uncle, 33, has reportedly been indicted for rape and is on the run.
The ten-year-old underwent a procedure to terminate the pregnancy at a referral hospital in Pernambuco, where angry protesters gathered outside and tried to break into the clinic to stop it going ahead.
Military Police were called in to protect the young patient after right-wing extremist Sara Giromini reportedly divulged the name of the girl and the hospital in a video she posted to social media.
In a statement, Facebook said: 'The video in question has been removed for violating our policies by promoting potential harm to people in the offline world in a coordinated manner.'

The protesters, linked to religious groups, were said to have tried to prevent the hospital director from entering the building.
A group of mostly women had also stood outside the clinic to shield the young girl from protesters.
According to hospital management, the young girl is doing well.
The Pernambuco Department of Health said the procedure was done with judicial authorisation and that 'all legal parameters are being strictly followed'.
The Sao Mateus Children's and Youth Prosecutor's Office is investigating whether religious groups tried to pressure the girl's family to not go through with the abortion after analysing audio clips sent to them.
