Washington DC Police Show Video Footage Of Shooting Of Black Man That Sparked Protests, Proof Positive He Was Holding A Firearm

Black Lives Matter activists took to the streets of Washington, D.C., this week to protest the shooting of a black man.

The protesters did not wait for any of the evidence, videos or facts of the case before declaring Deon Kay a martyr.

But on Thursday the Washington, DC police released a video of the shooting that showed Kay brandishing a firearm when he was shot, Fox News reported.

A Metropolitan Police Department statement released at the same time as the video explains that officers were responding to a report of a man with a gun shortly after 3:45 p.m. Wednesday when they spotted multiple people inside a parked vehicle in southeast D.C., police said.

“Mr. Deon Kay exited the vehicle and began to run on foot,” a statement from the police department said.

“An officer observed Mr. Kay brandish a firearm and subsequently the officer discharged his service weapon once, striking Mr. Kay in the chest,” it said.

The video starts with the officer running towards Kay shouting “Don’t move” as the suspect exists the vehicle and begins to run.

The officer than sees the man running in front of him and Kay pulls out a firearm at which time the officer fires one shot in Kay’s chest.

The video then shows the police search for the gun had flung the gun into a grassy area, until they eventually find it.

The killing prompted a late-night face-off between police and dozens of protesters outside a city police station.

The Metropolitan Police Department said shortly after the shooting that Kay was one of two people who fled Wednesday afternoon when approached by uniformed officers who were investigating reports of a man with a gun in the area.

The local Black Lives Matter affiliate called for immediate protests outside the MPD’s 7th District headquarters, stating in a tweet, “DC police murdered a Black man today.”

The shooting prompted immediate protesting from Black Lives Matter and others on the night that Kay was shot.
