Dr. Fauci: American's May Have To 'Bite the Bullet' Forgoing Gatherings This Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving, the most traveled and uniquely American holiday of the year, where families come together over turkey dinner and football. Of course, many will not be watching football this year since they boycotting a politicized NFL but that is another story.
Even as many states are opening back up and allowing gatherings, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and member of President Trump’s coronovirus task force, says not on Thanksgiving!
In an interview on CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell, Dr. Fauci stated that he has concerns about families gathering for this Thanksgiving stating, “It is unfortunate because that’s such a sacred part of American tradition, the family gathering around Thanksgiving, but that is a risk.”
He went on to say, “you may have to bite the bullet and sacrifice that social gathering.”
Dr. Fauci acknowledges, “My Thanksgiving will look very different this year” as his children will not be joining him . “They themselves, because of their concern for me and my age, have decided they’re not going to come home for Thanksgiving, even though all three of them want very much to come home for Thanksgiving,” he said.
Just how much are American’s supposed to sacrifice? So many have lost their businesses, their jobs, and are on the verge of losing their homes. No one is denying there is a virus and that it is serious. However the statistics don’t support a complete shutdown.
So it’s ok to gather in protest but not ok to have turkey with the family. It would be easier to swallow if our politicians practiced what they preached and there was clear and distinct messaging that was not a slippery slope to total abdication of freedom to our government.
