Briston previously spent 30 days in jail before getting out on bond. He told TribLive.com that his client would have gone to trial, but that would be risky and could cost her financially.
'We had a very viable self defense,' Rothman said.
Briston had previously worked in a hospital and had no prior record, according to TribLive.com.
Prior was a standout at Jeannette High School outside Pittsburgh before going on to play for the Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders, New York Jets, and Buffalo Bills.
