Daria Nicolodi, the Italian screenwriter and actress who starred in the 1980 supernatural film Inferno, has passed away at age 70.
Nicolodi's daughter Asia Argento broke the news on Instagram on Thursday, where she posted a slideshow of images of her late mother.
Argento, 45, wrote a touching tribute in honor of her mother, and though she did not indicate how her mother had passed, she did mention her mom would no longer have to 'suffer.'

'Rest in peace beloved mother. Now you can fly free with your great spirit and you won't have to suffer anymore,' Argento said.
'I will try to go on for your beloved grandchildren and especially for you who would never want to see me so grieved.
'Even if without you I miss the ground under my feet, and I feel I have lost my only true point of reference. I am close to all those who have known and loved her. I will always be your Aria,' Argento added.
The Florence-born actress began acting on TV after moving to Rome in the late 1960s, followed by a film career several years later, according to Deadline.
She began a romantic relationship with director Dario Argento, the Italian filmmaker known as the 'Master Of Horror', with whom she worked with as well.
Together, the pair wrote the 1977 film Suspiria, and Nicolodi even appeared in several films he directed, including Inferno, Deep Red, and Opera. They split in 1985 and share daughter Asia together.

Nicolodi continued acting through the 2000s, even appearing in the 2007 film directed by her ex Argento, Mother Of Tears.
The screenplay was written by Nicolodi, and starred their daughter.
In addition to Asia, Nicolodi is also mother to daughter Anna from her previous marriage with sculptor Mario Ceroli.
Tributes poured in for Nicolodi shortly after the news of her death broke.

One person said they were 'inspired deeply' by Nicolodi, who they called a 'trailblazer for women in horror'.
