Lakers star LeBron James begs for help solving murder of his childhood friend's sister, 37, who was shot in head at home
Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is calling on his hometown of Akron to help find the person who shot and killed 37-year-old Ericka Weems, the sister of his childhood friend and Cleveland Cavaliers director of scouting Brandon Weems.
'AKRON OHIO!! My brother's sister was murdered this past weekend in her home!' James tweeted Wednesday.
'My brother family need answers to why and by whom. My city I need y'all to go to work and find out who did this awful, shameful, disgusting thing to such a caring, loving angel!'
Family members found Ericka Weems's body inside her Akron, Ohio home on Monday afternoon, according to News5Cleveland.com. She had a gunshot wound to the head, and the case is being investigated as murder, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner.
The police currently have no suspects.

Her father, Darrell Weems, saw her on Saturday night and asked her to call him when she got home to say she was safe. However, Darrell told Cleveland's News 5, he never heard from her on Saturday or Sunday.
Ericka Weems was an Ohio State graduate, who reportedly owned a day care in Columbus that recently went out of business, prompting her to move back to Akron
Then, when she failed to show up to babysit a friend's child, Ericka's sister Shermaine Weems-Reed went to her home, where she found the victim.
'I just knew in my heart something was wrong and it was,' Weems-Reed told the network.
Ericka Weems was an Ohio State graduate, who reportedly owned a day care in Columbus that recently went out of business, prompting her to move back to Akron.
'She had a passion and love for children,' Brandon Weems told Cleveland's News 5. 'She could get kids to say and do things that even their parents couldn't do.'
James and Brandon Weems played youth football and later teamed up on the famed St. Vincent-St. Mary's team that helped propel the latter into the first pick of the 2003 NBA Draft.
'I make sure I look out for him,' James told MLive.com in 2015. 'He's my little brother.'
