Man whose daughters aged five and one were found cold and alone on a Chicago street claims their mother was supposed to be watching them
The father of a five-year-old girl who was found alone with her younger one-year-old sister on a Chicago street says he had thought she was safe with her mother.
The girls, whose discovery late Sunday prompted a police search for their parents, were taken to Comer Children's Hospital and were found to be in good condition.
Jamel Amos said he rushed to the hospital on Monday morning after learning that his daughter and her one-year-old sister were found alone and cold in the city's South Shore neighborhood.
Two children, aged five and one, were found outside late at night on the streets of Chicago
Hospital officials did not allow Amos to see his daughter, who was turned over to her grandparents' care.
Amos told WLS-TV that he and his daughter's mother normally share custody of the girl and that she has been with her mother since late October.
He said he last spoke to his daughter on Saturday and she was fine.
Amos said he thought she was safe with her mother but believes she was 'left unattended' and did not find out what happened until Monday morning.

'I think my daughter was left unattended. I find it very weird that it's been since 10 something p.m. yesterday that she was picked up and nobody noticed she was gone,' Amos said.
'I really haven't gotten any answers today,' he said. 'I haven't been allowed to see my daughter. I'm the biological father,' he said.
The girls are in good condition. Child welfare officials are investigating the case.
