Obama went on to ask about the baby, including his name, telling her that Preston was a 'good' choice. However, when he heard the little boy's full moniker, he added that it's 'a big name.'
'You look great and we send you best wishes,' he said after learning the newborn was only 10 days old.
The dad, who raised daughters Malia, 22, and Sasha, 19, with his wife Michelle Obama, recalled what it was like to be a first-time parent, asking her if she and her husband were 'still checking to see if he's breathing and all that stuff.'

Joyful: Seagram heiress Hannah Bronfman has revealed she is pregnant with her husband Brendan Fallis, 15 months after opening up about her devastating miscarriage
Heartbreak: The couple struggled with infertility when they started trying for a baby in 2017, and Bronfman suffered a miscarriage in January 2019
Road to recovery: Bronfman discovered she had a miscarriage at her nine-week appointment. Fallis then accompanied her to the D&C procedure (pictured)
Joyful: Nearly a year and a half after her miscarriage, she announced she was pregnant again
The couple's journey to parenthood has been a difficult one, as they struggled with both infertility and a miscarriage last year. They started trying for a baby shortly after their 2017 wedding but were unable to conceive and underwent several rounds of intrauterine insemination (IUI).
An IUI involves a doctor placing sperm into a woman's uterine cavity. It is typically recommended to couples struggling with fertility before in vitro insemination (IVF), a complex series of procedures in which eggs are collected from ovaries and fertilized by sperm in a lab.
Nine weeks into her pregnancy she suffered miscarriage and opened up about the heartbreaking loss in a series of social media posts, as well as a detailed YouTube video filmed with her husband.
The couple later turned to IVF and announced Bronfman's pregnancy on Instagram in July, roughly a year and a half after she miscarried.
Posting a stunning sunset silhouette photo that showed off her growing baby bump, she wrote: 'I can't believe I'm finally sharing this news with you guys! @brendanfallis and I are beyond thrilled to announce that we’re pregnant!'
