First job for the second gentleman: Kamala Harris' husband Doug Emhoff will be a entertainment law professor and a fellow at Georgetown Law
Like soon-to-be first lady Jill Biden, incoming second gentleman Doug Emhoff will be teaching as their spouses get sworn in.
Georgetown's law school announced Thursday that Emhoff will become a faculty member come January.
Emhoff, who stepped away from his law firm DLA Piper, will teach a class called 'Entertainment Law Disputes' and will serve as a fellow for Georgetown Law's Institute for Technology and Policy, a new initiative that will include a speaker series.

Georgetown Law announced that Emhoff, the country's first second gentleman, would teach a 'Entertainment Law Disputes' class and would serve as a fellow at the school's Institute for Technology and Policy, a new initiative that will include a speaker series
'Doug is one of the nation's leading intellectual property and business litigators, and he has a strong commitment to social justice,' said Georgetown Law Dean William Treanor in a statement. 'I know our students will greatly benefit from his experience and insight, and I am eagerly looking forward to his arrival.'
Emhoff, a graduate of University of Southern California's law school, was a prominent entertainment lawyer in California and Washington, D.C., working at a number of high-profile firms, before announcing he would be stepping away while his wife, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, served as President-elect Joe Biden's No. 2.
He had been on leave from DLA Piper since August.
Emhoff will be the nation's first second gentleman when Biden and Harris are sworn in on January 20.
Like traditional presidential and vice presidential spouses, Emhoff will do work on a slate of issues he's chosen.
During a trip to D.C. Central Kitchen before Thanksgiving, Emhoff said one such issue would be food insecurity.
He said it was a problem he witnessed while traveling the country when Harris was running for president in 2019.

'As I figure out the things I'll be passionate about, this is definitely one of them,' Emhoff said at the stop.
He will also focus on issues involving access to justice.
Jill Biden, a college-level English professor, will be the first lady to maintain outside work while holding the position.
She taught at Northern Virginia Community College for the eight years her husband served as President Barack Obama's vice president.
The incoming first lady has picked a slate of issues she'll work on including education, military families and veterans, as well as cancer.
On Thursday, she appeared at an event at the D.C. Armory to care packages for deployed troops, appearing alongside Biden's Defense secretary pick, Lloyd Austin, and his wife Charlene.
