Convicted sex offender, 38, 'spends hours watching child porn on AT&T store iPad' until horrified workers called police
A convicted sex offender was caught viewing child porn for hours using an AT&T display model iPad while in store.
Nathan Woods pleaded not guilty to sexual exploitation of a child and attempted sexual exploitation of a child during a court hearing Tuesday.
The charges stem from the 38-year-old's arrest following an April 18 incident at a Boulder AT&T store at 1675 29th St, according to the Boulder Daily Camera.
Woods allegedly spent four hours perusing child porn on the tablet.
Store employees alerted the police after they reviewed the iPad's browser history before closing the store for the day and learned that Woods had visited child pornography sites.
Law enforcement agents checked the iPad's browser history and found specific German terms that eventually translated to naked images of minors. The tablet also turned up websites that contained children performing sex acts.
Employees at the AT&T store in Boulder, Colorado, were set to close for the day on April 18 when they went to clear the history of an iPad and discovered that a customer had spent four hours searching for child porn on the tablet
Employees informed authorities that no other customer had used the iPad before Woods the day he visited the AT&T store.
The police found Woods in the vicinity at another store and were able to take him into custody.
Woods confessed to cops of searching for child pornography on the iPad but that he was surprised at the content he came across on the search engine.
'I wasn't expecting Google to put out stuff that was illegal,' he said.
He added that his fluency with the German language could have confused him with words that ultimately led him to the explicit images.
Woods did say that he had been looking for a video of women that he had been tipped about.
Nathan Woods was arrested in Boulder County in 2011 and plead guilty in 2013 to a sexual assault and second-degree burglary. Woods broke into the dorm bathrooms at the University of Colorado Boulder campus and stole women's clothing and assault a female acquaintance while she slept in her room
