Family tracks down missing 21-year-old student using iPhone location app only to find her shot dead in a car alongside mystery man
A family who tracked down a 21-year-old student using her iPhone location app were left devastated when they found her shot dead in a car alongside a mystery man.
The young woman, called TT by her family, had told her loved ones she was going to the salon on Wednesday but when the University of Louisville student did not answer her phone they began to worry.
They used her location app to track her down, combing the streets of Louisville's Smoketown neighborhood through the night and eventually discovered her body in the 700 block of Lampton Street at around 4.30am on Thursday, according to Wave3News.
The body of a 21-year-old student, known to her family as TT, was found inside a car in Smoketown, Louisville, beside a man her family do not recognise
The family said they tracked her phone location which took them to an unfamiliar part of town and, after searching cars in the area, they found her shot dead. Pictured: Emergency services at the scene in Smoketown
The family, from east Louisville, discovered TT's body beside that of a man not known to them and his identity is yet to be released.
Several elements of their grim discovery remain a mystery, including the spot where the bodies of TT and the man were found - a part of town unknown to the family.
As far as her family were aware, TT was on her way home from the salon before she started work at 10pm.
Her aunt, Terrilynn Hardy said they went looking for her to find out whether she had left her hair appointment or gone to work after she did not answer her phone.
One of TT's cousins shared her location with her mobile phone and at around 8pm the family decided to use it to find her, pinpointing her to the Smoketown neighborhood.
Ms Hardy said: 'We didn’t know if she called an Uber or caught a ride with a friend to the beauty shop.

The identity of the mystery man is not yet known and TT's family do not know why she would have been in the area which is not known to them
'We’re lost with that. All we had was the GPS on the phone. Everything took us by shock.'
The app eventually led them to Lampton Street and, after peering through the windows of several cars, TT's brother found her and the man shot dead.
The family said they do not recognise the man and were unable to provide any information as to how the pair may know each other.
Describing how the bodies were positioned in the car, TT's brother said the man's feet were not in the driving position - leading the family to believe the pair were killed outside of the car and placed inside.
