'Rude' plane passenger is slammed for FIGHTING man in front of her because his window was open and she wanted to sleep - before trying to shame HIM by posting a video of the incident on TikTok
A plane passenger who fought with the man in front of her for having his window up while she was trying to sleep has been branded a 'Karen' after trying to shame him on TikTok by posting a video of their argument.
Will Mantey, 24, from Texas, revealed he was the man who was sitting in front of the unnamed woman when he duetted the footage of their tense back and forth on the flight.
'Who was right in this situation?' he asked when he posted the TikTok, which has been viewed more than 22.5 million times.
It was me: Will Mantey, 24, from Texas, revealed on TikTok that he was the man who got in a fight with the unnamed woman behind him about keeping his window open
The video began with Will opening his window after the woman behind him reached over and closed it.
'Can you just keep it shut, please? I'm trying to sleep,' she told him.
Will explained that he wanted it up, saying: 'I like to see where I am going.'
After he ignored her demands, she threatened to call the flight attendant.
'You're being ridiculous,' she insisted. 'You don't own this plane.'
The woman tried to close the window numerous times, but when Will reached behind him to give her a taste of her own medicine, she said it was 'assault.'
Too far: In the clip, which has been viewed 22.5 million times, the woman reached in front of her to close Will's window multiple times because she was trying to sleep
Justice? The woman originally shared the video to shame him, but her plan backfired. Many of the commenters sided with Will and agreed that she had no right to close his window
Right after she told Will not to touch her, she slammed the window down, but the argument didn't end there.
They continued to go back and forth, saying they will 'be here all day.' The woman claimed he was being 'childish,' while he advised her to 'just look at the sunset and be happy.'
'The sun's not setting, idiot,' she hit back.
'Seriously, ma'am take a pill,' Will responded in frustration.
'I don't take pills to sleep. I'm fine on planes when people keep their window shut,' she griped.
The only thing that they could agree on was that they both wanted the flight attendant to come over and resolve the situation.
Ruined flight: Will explained in another video that he came across the woman while flying to Colorado to visit his parents for Christmas
While they waited, the woman reached in front of her yet again to shut the window despite Will's request to keep it open.
'It's not that hard. You don't need to see the clouds. You see them every day,' she rudely told him.
Will explained in another video that he came across the woman while flying to Colorado to visit his parents for Christmas.
'Everything was going great until about halfway through the flight. The lady behind me starts closing my window and starts arguing with me about how she needs it down so she can sleep,' he recalled.
'She flags down the flight attendant and the flight attendant nicely offers her an eye mask, but she doesn't want it because she doesn't like the "feeling." But then she offers to move her to the back of the plane, which she reluctantly does, complaining the entire time.'
Just saying: Critics branded her a 'Karen' and noted she could have nicely asked Will to close his window instead of 'rudely' trying to force him to do it
Will said that was the last time he saw the woman, noting that the flight attendant later came up to him to apologize for the issue.
'Fast forward to a couple days ago, I was scrolling through TikTok and this meme page had posted this "Karen on a plane" video, so I duetted and it went viral,' he said. 'Thank y'all so much for all the support. I really appreciate it. Y'all are so great.'
Many of the commenters sided with Will and agreed that the woman had no right to close his window during the flight, insisting she was the one in the wrong.
Critics branded her a 'Karen' and noted she could have nicely asked Will to close his window instead of 'rudely' trying to force him to do it.
'That's your window. You paid for that seat. I think you handled this in the best way possible!' one person wrote.
'She really had the audacity to say "you don't own the plane." Uhhhhh... neither do you,' another pointed out.
'You paid for that seat,' someone else commented. 'If she wanted to sleep that damn bad she could've just brought an eye mask or removed her eyeballs or something.'
