Couple are caught 'driving while high on synthetic cannabinoids with a child in the car' after the husband was found 'acting like a zombie', growling and foaming at the mouth
An Indiana couple faces child neglect and drug possession charges after they drove while high on the synthetic cannabinoid K2 with a child in the car and the husband was found 'acting like a zombie' and growling, police said.
Officers from the Evansville Police Department arrested Anthony Monarch, 32, and Lindsey Monarch, 31, after finding drugs in their car and observing behavior leading police to determine they were both high while driving from Chandler to Evansville, Indiana.
Anthony Monarch was charged with neglect of a dependent child and possession of methamphetamine, another controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
Lindsey Monarch was charged with neglect of a dependent child and possession of a controlled substance.
The couple were booked into the Vanderburgh County jail after 1 p.m. Saturday.
Anthony Monarch (left) was charged with child neglect and possession of methamphetamine and another controlled substance. Officers say when they tried to wake him he began growling, foaming at the moth and moving erratically. Lindsey Monarch (right) was charged with child neglect and possession of a controlled substance. Police say she was inside the couple's car with a child and told officers there was more synthetic marijuana in the vehicle. Police allege she was also coming down from a K2 high
K2 is one of the various names for Synthetic cannabinoids, which the National Institute on Drug Abuse says are 'human-made mind-altering chemicals that are either sprayed on dried, shredded plant material so they can be smoked or sold as liquids to be vaporized and inhaled in e-cigarettes and other devices'
Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office online records indicate both Monarchs were released after posting bonds of $1,000 for Anthony and $500 for Lindsey.
The child was released into the custody of a family member, authorities said.
Officers responded to a call Saturday about a man rolling around on the ground and 'acting like a zombie' outside a Thorntons convenience store in Evansville, KFVS 12 reported.
Officers found Anthony Monarch passed out in the grass beside the store. They were able to wake him but he began growling, foaming at the mouth and moving erratically, police said.
