Lara Trump joins Fox News as a contributor in a move that increases her profile ahead of possible North Carolina Senate run
Lara Trump joined Fox News as a contributor, a position that will increase her national platform as she weighs a North Carolina Senate run next year.
The announcement was made on Fox & Friends on Monday morning.
'Let's bring in Lara Trump, former senior adviser for the Trump campaign, and we have a big announcement. She is a new Fox News contributor. Welcome to the family, Lara,' said host Ainsley Earhardt.
Trump thanked the hosts for the warm welcome.
'Well, I'm so excited, first of all, to be joining the Fox family, I sort of feel like I've been an unofficial member of the team for so long,' she said. 'You guys know it was kind of a joke over the past five years, I would come there so often that the security guards were like, maybe we should just give you a key.'

Trump, the wife of Eric Trump, is weighing a Senate bid in native North Carolina next year. Republican Senator Richard Burr is retiring, leaving his seat open.
She told the 'Fox & Friends' hosts she's hasn't made a final decision.
'Yeah, well, Fox has been very generous with me and they had said look if that's something that you ultimately decide to do they are going to work with me on that front and make sure that everything - all the rules are followed- and we do everything properly,' she said. 'So thank you to the Fox team for allowing me to have the possibility,'
She added: 'I still haven't officially made a decision, but hopefully some time soon.'
If she ran she would have to give up her contributor gig. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the former Trump press secretary, left her Fox contributor job after she announced she was running for governor of Arkansas.
Lara Trump appeared frequently on the network before formally joining as a contributor. Earlier this month she confirmed she was considering a Senate bid when she appeared on Sean Hannity's show.
The Republican primary in the North Carolina race could be competitive but Trump would have an edge thanks to her last name and her high public profile.
