A sanitation worker in New York has been attacked by three men who hit him with a baseball bat golf club and stole his phone, police said.
The city worker, 42, was collecting trash with his 43-year-old co-worker near Milford Street and Pitkin Avenue in the east of the city in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The trio allegedly approached the uniformed workers at 1.40am after the victim become involved in an argument with two women.

The three suspects arrived in a red Chrysler 300 sedan driver by a fourth man, collectively armed with a knife, baseball bat and golf club, NYPD said.
Footage of the attack shows one suspect appearing to strike the city worker as he picked up bags of garbage from the sidewalk.
Two other men then approached from the other side of the truck with one carrying the baseball bat.

The victim's co-worker can be seen waving his hands pleading them to stop but they continue with the violent attack.
One of the men can be seen swinging the bat once before the other worker intervened.
Police said one of the suspects displayed a knife in the rampage during which the co-worker was also 'menaced by the unidentified males' but was unharmed.
