Cop is suspended for live streaming rant defending the Confederate flag and saying Democrats should 'get the s*** kicked out of them'
A Pennsylvania police officer has been suspended after he live streamed a rant while on duty during which he said that the Confederate flag was not racist, slavery ‘has been over 200 years ago,’ and Democrats should ‘get f****d’ and ‘get the s*** kicked out of them.’
Officer Brian Gossert of Denver, Pennsylvania was suspended by the Mansfield Police Department in Tioga County after his online rant went viral.
In the video, Gossert acknowledges that he could lose his job over the live stream, though he vowed to have his union fight any attempt to remove him from the police force, WETM-TV reported.
‘I don’t understand how (the Confederate flag) is racist, it represents the South,’ Gossert says in the video.

Gossert live streamed a rant while on duty during which he said that the Confederate flag was not racist, slavery ‘has been over 200 years ago,’ and Democrats should ‘get f****d’ and ‘get the s*** kicked out of them.’
‘Just like the Union flag represents the North. No one says that the union flag is racist. So why are we saying the Confederate flag is racist?’
Gossert continued: ‘Well they fought against the North. So yeah, technically they fought for slavery, I guess you could say, but again, that’s been over 200 years ago, I think it’s time that people just like, get the f*** over themselves.
‘Because, if, if that’s true. If the symbolism behind that flag is still that hurtful now, then we should still hate the South.
‘So, why hate them for something that no one is alive from anymore.’
Gossert then goes on to attack Democrats and their alleged past affiliation with the Ku Klux Klan.
Gossert is a resident of Denver, Pennsylvania. Gossert was recently hired as a full-time officer. Before September 2020, he was listed as an ‘as-needed officer'
The Mansfield Borough Council released a statement on the police department’s Facebook page on Wednesday announcing the suspension
‘You want to know who started the KKK, the f****** Democrats, probably the same party that you agree with.
‘So again, get f***** like read a f****** history book.
‘Everyone wants to call cops racist but yeah you know who starts racism, Democrats.
‘It’s okay we can justify our flag, because it’s not as bad as the flag next to us.
‘They need to get the s*** kicked out of them.’
Historians have discredited the widely circulated claim that Democrats founded the KKK, though many of its members were Democrats who supported slavery and the Confederacy.
In reality, the KKK was founded by a group of former Confederate soldiers in 1866.
In another part of the clip, Gossert is seen in the police vehicle with a man in the backseat.
'Oh, fun stuff. This is why you don’t do meth,' he said, and ended the live stream.
In another clip from the live stream, Gossert says that he ‘is serving right now… in a very small town with next to nothing happens at night.’
He then says that people protesting racism should ‘dig up all the graves and yell at all of’ the people from the Civil War era for their role in slavery.
He then says that he has not ‘heard of a single war in the world history that someone didn’t appreciate.’
‘No one is arguing over the Revolutionary War, but that’s because it gave everyone their freedoms to b**** like a whole bunch of schoolgirls right now,’ Gossert says in the clip.
Gossert also filmed live video of his undercover police car. The video reportedly shows where certain pieces of equipment are located inside the vehicle.
At one point, he turns on the lights inside the vehicle and begins dancing.
‘Hopefully there’s no business with f****** cameras or else I’m f****** screwed,’ he says in the clip.
Gossert then tells viewers of the live stream that he isn’t worried about getting fired for his comment.
‘I have a union and I would file a grievance if I lost my job over me saying something that’s an opinion,’ he says.
‘My union, that I pay for, protects that. Yes, I would file a grievance and I would be reinstated.’
The Mansfield Borough Council released a statement on the police department’s Facebook page on Wednesday.
‘The Mansfield Borough Council is aware that a borough police officer posted offensive videos on a social media platform which were recorded and posted while he was on duty,’ the statement read.
‘The Borough Council is appalled and outraged by this conduct.
‘The officer has been suspended and an investigation is proceeding.
‘The views expressed in these videos do not reflect the values of the Borough government.’
According to WETM-TV, Gossert was recently hired as a full-time officer. Before September 2020, he was listed as an ‘as-needed officer.’
Gossert graduated from Mansfield University Police Academy in 2012.
He live streamed the video on his TikTok account, ‘officer_goose,’ though that page has since been deactivated.
