'Hero' truck driver blocks the road with his big rig to end 90mph police chase with murder suspect

A 'hero' truck driver used his big rig to block off a California highway and stop a murder suspect who was fleeing from police in a high-speed chase.

Dramatic video filmed Tuesday evening shows the suspect slamming into the front of the big rig, which was being driven by Ahmed Shaaban.

Shaaban was driving near a gas station in Pomona when he spotted several police cars tailing the man, who was behind the wheel of a black pickup truck.

While most other vehicles quickly moved out of the way, Shaaban drove his big rig directly into the pickup's path in order to stop the two hour-long chase.

'I was looking in my right rearview mirror and I was watching him coming through the gas station,' Shaaban told Sean Hannity on Fox News.

'My intention really was to block the entire section. But by the time my truck reacted and he gunned his car and I gunned mine and we just slammed into each other.'

Hannity hailed Shabaan as a 'hero'.

Shabaan later told CBS LA: 'I just waited for the right moment and I blocked him and hit him, because if I didn't stop him, he was going to kill somebody else'.

Officers say the man in the black pickup was wanted for questioning over a murder in Riverside County.

When they attempted to question him over the slaying he reportedly sped off in the pickup, leading a crew of cop cars on a wild chase.

Roxy said she was a friend of the murder suspect, but told reporters she had no clue he was wanted by police.

'We were hanging out and he said he wanted to help his friend in LA,' Roxy told Fox 11.

'I said, 'I am down to roll. It's all good. We'll go help your friend.''

She said she was stunned when police started following with their siren blaring.

When quizzed as to whether her pal could have committed murder, Roxy replied: 'It might have been self defense'.
