The incident was seen by several police officers who quickly ran after the man and immediately arrested him.

Video shows Rosin walking toward the door of the police station before chucking the bottle which immediately smashed and ignites into an orange fireball.

The man runs away followed by several police officers around 20 seconds later.

It's not known how many officers were inside the building at the time. Incredibly, nobody was injured.

Officers took Rosin, who is believed to be homeless, into custody without incident at a nearby intersection and 'observed that he smelled like gasoline,' police said.

The Los Angeles man was booked for igniting an explosive and an unspecified misdemeanor warrant, and was being held on $500,000 bail, police added.

The LAPD Major Crimes Division is now handling the investigation.

The LAPD say the suspect was uncooperative and the motive for the firebombing remains unclear.

Attacks on police stations in the Los Angeles area are rare but the number has increased over the past year.
