'These spies talk mostly about themselves': Tucker Carlson mocks 'woke' CIA recruitment video featuring officer who declares herself an 'intersectional cisgender millennial'

Fox News host Tucker Carlson has mocked the now-infamous CIA recruitment video of an officer with the agency describing herself as an 'intersectional cisgender millennial with generalized anxiety disorder'.

'There's really nothing we can do to prepare you for the experience of seeing it,' Carlson said of the video, which went viral over the weekend, assuring his viewers that the clip is 'entirely genuine'.

In the video, the unnamed CIA officer, 36, tells viewers she is 'unapologetically me', adding that she used to suffer from 'imposter syndrome' but now refuses to 'internalize misguided patriarchal ideas of what a woman can or should be.'

'I am intersectional, but my existence is not a box checking exercise,' the woman asserts. 'I am proud of me, full.'

Carlson lashed into the video in his opening monologue on Tuesday, joking: 'At Joe Biden's CIA the spies talk mostly about themselves.'

'She told us that she is intersectional, but that "My existence is not a box checking exercise." Well, of course it isn't. Box checking - come on! Just a cisgender millennial with a emotional disability. Not a hint of box checking there,' said Carlson.

'That sounds like pure meritocracy. If by meritocracy, you mean narcissism is the highest achievement,' he added.

'You could just imagine what the [CIA] job interviews must be like. "Tell us about yourself, and please don't ever stop,"' joked Carlson.

Carlson spent several minutes joking about the video before inviting on journalist Glenn Greenwald, a longtime critic of the U.S. intelligence community, to offer a more sober analysis.

'Obviously part of it, the most superficial part, is that it is just a branding exercise,' Greenwald said of the CIA video. 'They bathe themselves in the rainbow flag and you forget about all the coups and assassinations that they do.'

'Also it shows that left-wing cultural ideology is the dominant ideology. That is why they are appealing to that as their brand,' he added.

'But there's something more substantive ... the people at the CIA, this really is their ideology. It's the ideology of the Democratic Party. It's not a radical ideology, it's the ideology of power,' Greenwald went on.

'It's ruling class ideology, even though leftists believe that it's the ideology of liberation,' he added. 'Wokeness, this ideology, is not about subverting power centers -- they never talk about power centers: the CIA, Big Tech monopolies, hedge fund managers,' he said.

'It's about turning citizens against one another -- that person is evil, this individual is bad. It empowers these ruling class centers,' Greenwald added.

The CIA clip has also sparked a fierce reaction online, with social media users labelling it 'woke'. Another said: 'The world is laughing at us.'

Donald Trump Jr. tweeted: 'China and Russia will love this.'

Former CIA officer Bryan Dean Wright, tweeted: 'The CIA used to be about mission to country. (I speak from experience).

'Now it's now about demanding — and getting — accommodation to fix an emotional wound or advance a personal agenda. America is less safe with this new CIA, and dangerously more political.'

Another Twitter user compared it to a Saturday Night Live skit.

Greenwald, part of a team that won a Pulitzer for reports about government surveillance programs based on leaks by Edward Snowden, tweeted: 'Lots of people who pay no attention to the CIA and the security state seem to think this CIA video is the first time they've promoted, endorsed and embraced woke ideology.

'They've been doing it for years. I wrote about back in 2015.'

The officer tells viewers: 'I am intersectional, but my existence is not a box-checking exercise. I am a walking declaration, a woman whose inflection does not rise at the end of her sentences, suggesting that a question has been asked.'

The clip does not detail the qualifications needed to work at the CIA or what the role entails.

She adds: 'I am a woman of color. I am a mom. I am a cisgender Millennial who has been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder.'

In the TV show Homeland agent Carrie Mathison, played by Claire Danes, attempts to keep her bipolar disorder hidden from the CIA over fears of losing her security clearance.

One Twitter user commented: 'I hope the CIA actually is hiring fail brain millennials with debilitating anxiety like in the ad. that would be hilarious.

'Sam Fisher getting captured and tortured because the analyst working on his mission is hyperventilating due to being quote tweeted.'

Matt Taibbi added: 'The really telling thing about this video is that it speaks to the CIA's assessment of who would be interested in working for them. Clearly, they think they have appeal to woke millennials - and they're probably right.'

Commentator Liz Wheeler said: 'Watch this insane CIA recruitment video & tell me the CIA isn’t a woke swamp creature... capable & willing to weaponize their power to target their political opponents: conservatives.'

The clip begins with the agent - shot in slow motion - walking towards the camera talking about being a 17-year-old student.

She says: 'I can change a diaper in one hand and console a crying toddler with the other.

'I earned my way in and I earned my way up the ranks.

'I am tired of feeling like I am supposed to apologize for the space I occupy.'

Journalist Rania Khaled said: 'I remember warning about this danger like 7 years ago and getting smeared for it by tumblr types.'

Michael Treacy added: 'I don't know if the CIA invented/funded/disseminated Woke Ideology but let's just say it would make perfect sense.'

Assistant professor of history at the University of Massachusetts Amherst Asheesh Kapur Siddique said: 'Looking forward to @cia's next video, which will explain how 'enhanced interrogation' is actually super woke.'
