Tucker Carlson calls Joint Chief of Staff Mark Milley a 'traitor' and a 'criminal' after book alleged he told Chinese counterpart he would warn him if US was planning war with China
Tucker Carlson has slammed Mark Milley as 'treasonous' after a new book claimed the Joints Chief of Staff told officials that Trump was a 'serious threat to national security' and 'may need to be handled with physical force'.
According to the book, Peril, Milley told officials at the National Military Command Center that they 'reported to him, not the elected president of the United States,' and that they were to 'follow no order without consulting him first.'
He also made secret calls with China behind Trump's back, in an attempt to prevent a war breaking out, and attempted to limit Trump's ability to launch nukes, the book by journalists Bob Woodward and Robert Costa claims.
'How do you describe this? "Deep state" isn’t strong enough,' Carlson said on his show on Tuesday. 'It’s treason. It’s a crime.'
On September 14, the Tucker Carlson Tonight host detailed meetings in which Milley allegedly told senior military officials that Trump was a 'serious threat to national security,' and may need to be handled with 'physical force'
In a later January meeting, Carlson claimed, Joints Chief of Staff Mark Milley (pictured) allegedly told officials at the National Military Command Center that they 'reported to him, not the elected president of the United States,' telling them to 'follow no order without consulting him first'
'To those who say they’re worried about authoritarianism coming in America, well, it’s here,' Carlson said. 'That’s what this is. Authoritarian government. Government by unelected, unaccountable leaders willing to use violence to preserve their rule.'
Carlson told his viewers that Milley told officials at the first meeting that Trump's behavior put the 'the stability of the Republic' in danger.
Milley reportedly had similar conversations with CIA Director Gina Haspel, NSA Head Paul Nakasone, Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Haspel allegedly warned Milley that America was 'on [its] way to a right-wing coup.'
'Donald Trump had dared to question the election results,' said Carlson, pointedly. 'For this, Milley explained, the United States military might be required to use physical force against the president.'
Reportedly, Milley had told the assemblage that '[they] were the guys with the guns.'
Milley reportedly called Chinese General Li Zuocheng, with whom he had associated for five years, without notifying the president, to assure him that the American government was 'stable.'
'General Li, I want to assure you... Everything is going to be okay,' he told the general, Carlson said.

'We are not going to attack or conduct any kinetic operations against you... if we're going to attack, I'm going to call you ahead of time. It's not going to be a surprise.'
Carlson said the call was 'treason' and 'a crime.'
'According to this account, our country’s top defense official secretly colluded with our chief military rival to undercut the elected president of the United States. How do you describe this? "Deep state" isn’t strong enough.'
He railed against other officials who 'knew it was happening,' saying that 'our intelligence agencies almost certainly heard Mark Milley's call.'
'If they can read emails from a... show on Fox, what are teh chances they were aware that the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff was speaking to a senior Chinese general and what they were saying? Around 100 percent. Yet the NSA did nothing.'
Carlson called out other media outlets for painting the alleged behavior in a more venerable light - NBC said he 'prevent[ed] Trump from misusing nuclear weapons, war with China.'
He played segments from TV news aired today: in one Rick Stengel of MSNBC said that Milley was a 'hero' who 'behaved in a heroic manner.'

'But what [Milley] did was ensure the guardrails were in place so I give him high marks for this based on what’s described in the book,' Lieutenant General Mark Hertling told CNN.
'We were in a period of extraordinary danger,' Former General Barry McCaffrey told MSNBC. 'I think Milley will be treated favorably by history.'
'They cheered [Democracy] ending,' Carlson said. 'They’re happy to see Mark Milley secretly conspiring with the Chinese military to end civilian control of our Pentagon. This is the government they want. You should not forget that.'
During his segment, Carlson suggested that officials instead should have been concerned with the 'coup' of 'unelected government employees' 'invalidating the votes of millions of American citizens.'
