Sen. Rand Paul Calls On Dr. Fauci to Resign: “What You’ve Done Is Change the Definition on Your Website to Try and Cover Your A**”

 Dr. Anthony Fauci once again entered the lion’s den, this one is located on Capitol Hill.

On Thursday, Fauci testified along with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director Dr. Rochelle Walensky, acting Food and Drug Administration commissioner Dr. Janet Woodcock and high-ranking federal preparedness response official Dawn O’Connell.

The topic of the hearing was: “Next Steps: The Road Ahead for the COVID-19 Response.”

Senator Rand Paul, R-Ky., zeroed in trying to hold Dr. Fauci, the top medical adviser to President Biden, accountable. They once again went off the hearing topic and instead engaged in their version of verbal hand-to-hand combat — as they have before — on the origins of the coronavirus.

The main talk point for Senator Paul is he believes that Dr. Fauci is doing everything possible, including changing the language on the National Institutes Of Health website, to hide the extent to which the United States was complicit in funding Chinese research he is convinced led to the creation of the pathogen known as SARS-CoV-2.

Rand Paul, told the NIH Director, “You appear to have learned nothing from this pandemic… What you’re doing is defining away gain-of-function. You’re simply saying it doesn’t exist because you change the definition on the NIH website. This is terrible and you’re completely trying to escape the idea that we should do something to try and prevent a pandemic from leaking from a lab.

The preponderance of evidence now points to this coming from a lab and what you’ve done is change the definition on your website to try to cover your ass, basically.”

Dr. Fauci, who is not accustomed to being challenged so vociferously, has displayed his disdain for Senator Paul — an ophthalmologist by training — by snapped back, red face and all, “He is egregiously incorrect in what he says,” Fauci said at the conclusion of his responses to the Senator.

“History will figure that out on its own,” Paul shot back. Senator Paul, a libertarian with well-researched opinions on the pandemic, has challenged the effectiveness of masks, thus rejecting any mandates to wear them, and has equally opposed to vaccination mandates while staying focused on the origins of the pandemic.

After 40 years of Fauci not being held accountable, I don’t expect him to be on this issue either.
