'What am I gonna do with one penny?!' Nashville waitress reveals she made just ONE CENT during a SIX-WEEK pay period at minimum-wage job - as she begs customers to 'tip their servers'
A waitress has gone viral on TikTok after she revealed that she made only one penny during a six-week pay period.
Viewers were left completely shocked after the woman, who is from Nashville, Tennessee, and goes by the name Liny, uploaded a video of herself showing off the paychecks she has received from her job over the last few months - and in total she earned one single cent.
The clip has sparked a major debate about whether or not consumers should tip their waiters - with some people saying servers deserve a tip for their service, and that if you can't afford to tip you shouldn't go out to eat. However, others say it should be on the restaurant, and that they should pay their employees more.
In the video, the 25-year-old placed three different pay checks in front of the camera. One of them was issued on August 30, and it was for zero dollars. Another was from September 13, and that one was for zero dollars too. Finally, she showed a check that she received on September 27 - where she made $0.01.
'The f*** Ima do with one penny Steven!' she captioned the video, adding in the clip: 'Life of a server... this is six weeks of "pay". Tip your servers!'

The federal minimum wage for tipped employees in the US is $2.13 an hour, but for every paycheck, 6.2% is removed for social security taxes and 1.45% is removed for medicare taxes.
Paid employees are also required to pay income taxes, and the government will determine how much you owe based on the amount of money you receive from earned income.
In Liny's case, this means that, while she may have earned a reasonable gross income from her job, she was essentially left with nothing after taxes.
The video has gained more than 1.2 million views since it was posted last month, and it has launched a discussion in the comment section about whether or not customers should tip their waiters - with viewers divided over the topic.
One person claimed, 'It's not my job to pay your bills. I got my own to pay.'

'Blame the business you're working for, not the consumers. In other countries, they don't need to tip because they pay living wage,' another person added.
'I'm already paying overpriced prices for mediocre food. I shouldn't have to also pay out of my pocket for your salary. That's your bosses job.'
'If you can't tip go to McDonalds or cook at home,' one commenter responded.
'Y'all did not pass the vibe check. When someone is taking your order and bringing your food, they are providing a service,' someone else wrote.
'Same with my mechanic but he doesn't get a tip,' another TikTok user fired back to that comment.
Another person wrote, 'People don't understand that servers have to [give] a certain per cent of sales to kitchen and bar. If you don't tip, your servers are paying for you eat.'
'If [servers] don't work, y'all can't eat out. No one is gonna serve you. We don't control how much we get paid,' one last comment read.
