Donald Trump had McDonald's brought to hospital while he was treated for COVID-19 in October 2020
Donald Trump's love affair with fast food carried on even when he was hospitalized with COVID-19 as the then-president ordered McDonald's to be brought to his room at Walter Reed Hospital, according to an upcoming book by his former chief of staff.
In The Chief's Chief, Mark Meadows writes Trump didn't seemingly lose his sense of taste, as some COVID sufferers have reported, when he demanded takeout during his October 2020 hospital stay.
'They had to eat with face shields on at the doctor's orders, which didn't thrill any of them,' the book, Meadows writes in the book, which comes out Tuesday.

Trump's love for McDonald's and other fast food chains is well-documented. According to a book by his former aides Corey Lewandowski and David Bossie, his four 'major food groups' are McDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken, pizza and Diet Coke.
His typical order at McDonald's consists of two Big Macs, two Filet-of-Fish sandwiches and a chocolate milkshake. Although he claims to skip the bun when he eats fast-food sandwiches, the order comes in at 2,500 calories - about a day's worth for a man his age.
Before his presidency, Trump was featured in commercials for Pizza Hut and McDonald's, and his fast food intake was an element of his brand. The connection between Trump and fast-food chains stayed strong during the presidency:
'There's nothing more American than fast food. It is the peculiarity of the brand that he's able to be on his multimillion-dollar jet with the gold and black branding and colors and at the same time eat KFC,' said Republican strategist Russ Schriefer.

'It goes with his authenticity,' said Kellyanne Conway during the 2016 presidential campaign.
'I don't think Hilary Clinton would be eating Popeyes biscuits and fried chicken.'
'And what makes it all perfect is that he does it with a knife and fork while reading the Wall Street Journal.'
The 6-foot-3 Trump weighed in at 239 pounds at his first presidential physical in January, just one pound below obese, according to Bloomberg.
His doctor recommended that he cut back on the fried stuff, but Trump famously had tables of fast food laid out in the White House for visiting members, including those from college championship teams.
In Michael Wolff's Trump tell-all 'Fire and Fury,' the author wrote that a fear of being poisoned and a belief that fast-food chains are cleaner than non-corporate eateries play into his preference.
In October, Trump said that Meadows' book would be an 'incredible Christmas present' for anyone who wanted 'to learn about politics, truth [and] our great administration.'
But the former president's tune about the book changed when bombshell revelations about Trump's COVID-positive timeline came to light.
Meadows wrote that Trump tested positive, then negative, for the virus just three days before he got on the debate stage with Joe Biden.

Trump quickly denied the claim.
'The story of me having COVID prior to, or during, the first debate is Fake News,' he said.
Meadows reportedly wrote that the positive result came from an 'old model testing kit,' and that another COVID test came back negative - the White House never disclosed the first result, and the debate went on.
'Well, the president’s right, it’s fake news,' Meadows said in an interview with Newsmax Wednesday.
'If you actually read the book, the context of it, that story outlined a false positive.'
