Wisconsin Governor Says People Should ‘Sit Back And Take A Breath’ After Darrell Brooks Was Released On Low Bail And Mowed Down 6 Innocents

Last month, tragedy struck the city of Waukesha, Wisconsin as 6 people were killed and many more injured after suspect Darrell Brooks ran down innocent paradegoers in a Red SUV.  Brooks was let out on bail only days before the deadly attack, and his bail was only set at $1,000 despite being a Tier 2 sex offender in the state of Nevada, skipping out on past court dates, and having violent felonies on his record.

Brooks scored “High” in a pretrial risk assessment before his bail was set.

Citizens of Waukesha want Democrat Governor Tony Evers to fire the corrupt District Attorney who’s policies led to Brooks getting out on low bail and butchering innocent people.  Evers responded to their demands by telling them to ‘sit back and take a breath’.  Channel 3000 Reported

“In a year-end interview with News 3 Now, Gov. Tony Evers said his office was reviewing a complaint for authenticity and would weigh whether to launch an investigation of Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisolm after the Waukesha holiday parade tragedy…

…Gov. Evers suggested he might support bail reform laws as well in the wake of the tragedy, but cautioned that any reform would need “every stakeholder” at the table.

“You hate to use tragedy like this to create an impetus to change,” he said. “But if everybody sits back and takes a breath…maybe there’s a way that people that have a violent past could have higher bail. I’m open to that.”

Chisolm said that Brooks bail was ‘inappropriately low’, though he has touted a progresive approach to bail/prison reform in the past.  When questioned about his approach, he said “Is there going to be an individual I divert, or put into a treatment program, who’s going to go out and kill somebody? You bet. Guaranteed. It’s guaranteed to happen,” he said. “It does not invalidate the overall approach.”
