Dave Gaubatz of 100 Percent Fed Up reports – During our short American history, wars and battles have always had a separation of power. The White House controls from a civilian perspective, and the Pentagon controls from a military perspective. Throughout our history, both have worked together to resolve and plan for national security matters. Our forefathers made it a law that the civilian Commander in Chief (President) always has the final decision. This is wonderful if America has a President who is qualified and truly cares about America and its people.
America and its allies had been at war with the Taliban, Al Qaeda, and ISIS from 2001 until 2021. At the very beginning, most Americans felt we must go to war because of Osama bin Laden’s attack on America (Sept 11, 2001). The years began to drag on, and American troops were dying practically every day. By the time we entered 2021, we had lost over 2,400 and injured over 20,000 military personnel.
question the policy of our troops remaining in Afghanistan. Americans were demanding we end the war and bring our troops back home. Many felt our government had provided billions of dollars to the Afghan government for the buildup of their military, and we had given them billions of dollars of equipment. It was time for the Afghan people to defend themselves.
Most Americans agreed after 20 years, it was time to end our war in Afghanistan. Since Biden was President in 2021, the responsibility was his. He had numerous military and civilian professionals to give him guidance, but he was the person responsible for the withdrawal. Many Americans from both party lines agree his method of withdrawal was poor at best, and due to his decision, several military members lost their lives during the withdrawal, and numerous American civilians were left behind to be at the mercy of terrorists from the Taliban and other ruthless terror groups.
The Army was tasked to conduct an investigation of the withdrawal and subsequently released over 2000 pages and their conclusion to the Washington Post based on Freedom of Information Request.
From the Washington Post Army Investigative Report:
“Senior White House and State Department officials failed to grasp the Taliban’s steady advance on Afghanistan’s capital and resisted efforts by U.S. military leaders to prepare the evacuation of embassy personnel and Afghan allies weeks before Kabul’s fall, placing American troops ordered to carry out the withdrawal in greater danger, according to sworn testimony from multiple commanders involved in the operation.
An Army investigative report, numbering 2,000 pages and released to The Washington Post through Freedom of Information Act request, details the life-or-death decisions made daily by U.S. soldiers and Marines sent to secure Hamid Karzai International Airport as thousands converged on the airfield in a frantic bid to escape”.
The conclusion of the report was not favorable to Biden.
There have been Generals and other ranks who disagreed with the method of pullout. American military has seen that contradicting Biden and his team can be a career-ending move. Lt. Col. Stuart Schelle, a former U.S. Marine, spoke out on social media against the manner of the withdrawal. He spent some time in the brig (military jail) before being discharged on Dec 24, 2021. Some estimate he lost about 2 million dollars he would have collected upon retirement.
Many Americans have come to the assessment that if we are going into war, we should do so to win and not allow a terrorist organization like the Taliban to rule the land we fought for 20 years. We fought for the innocent Afghanistan people, but their lives are in more danger than when we first arrived in 2001. In addition, the Americans left behind may never get out. Was ‘Joe’ sleeping on the job?
