SUNY Invites convicted Cop-Killer to Speak at “Black Resistance” Event
First Ben and Jerry’s, now a College Campus? Leftists love cop-killers.
The State University of New York (SUNY) Brockport has declared convicted cop-killer Jalil Muntaqim as a political prisoner and decided to invite him to the campus as a special speaker for a black-oriented event.
From Campus Reform: The Apr. 6 event is titled “History of Black Resistance, U.S. Political Prisoners & Genocide: A Conversation with Jalil Muntaqim,” and according to the event webpage, “partial funding was received from the [Promoting Excellence in Diversity] PED Grant of the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.”
Muntaqim is described as a “grandfather, father, mentor to many, and loving human being” by the SUNY Brockport event description. In 1971, Muntaqim was convicted of ambushing and killing two police officers in Harlem, New York: Waverly Jones and Joseph Piagentini.
“Black Resistance and U.S. Political Prisoners and Genocide” Oh my. This event has, obviously, upset many students and especially those with family in law enforcement. However, it gets better. Initially the “speaker” was to be paid by a grant, after being selected by a faculty member. That’s right, the people in charge of educating young adults decided it would be a good idea to pay a cop-killer to talk about killing cops.
After initial pushback, however, the University decided not to pay the cop-killer but insisted that they will keep the event on. This is despite the widow of one of the two slain cops, Piagentini, sending a letter to the university pleading with them not to platform Muntaqim and describing in great detail the atrocity of his actions.
The University did not care.
Muntaqim is also a Black Panther affiliate and one of the founders of the Jericho Movement, an Antifa affiliated group that advocates for violent “resistance” against “white supremacist” authority.
It is on these affiliations, as well as last year’s Democratic event in which several cop-killers were referred to as “political prisoners” that the University gets off on this farce.
