Texas AG Ken Paxton states the obvious about Rachel Levine, but Twitter says the tweet violated its rules on 'hateful conduct'

 Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a Republican, tweeted a brief statement that fully comports with biological reality, but Twitter has flagged the post, saying that it runs afoul of rules regarding "hateful conduct."

The offending tweet declared, "Rachel Levine is a man."

Admiral Rachel Levine, who serves as the assistant secretary for health for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has been named as one of USA Today's "Women of the Year," a distinction which is untethered from reality since Levine is actually a biological male. Paxton included an image of the USA Today site in his tweet.

A notice on Paxton's post declares, "This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules about hateful conduct. However, Twitter has determined that it may be in the public’s interest for the Tweet to remain accessible."

Many on social media took issue with Paxton's comment.

"In case anyone still needs this cleared up: Admiral Rachel L. Levine, MD is a woman. Ken Paxton is a transphobic bigot and bully," Democratic Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi of Illinois tweeted. 

Keith Olbermann tweeted, "btw Ken Paxton is NOT a man. Remember to report Paxton's tweet as a violation of @Twitter rules as abusive to a group of people." 

"Ken, Rachel Levine is a woman - a strong, intelligent, beautiful woman who is committed to serving her country. And even at that, she’s still more a man than you’ll ever be," another tweet declared.

But while Paxton faced a deluge of criticism, some people agreed with him.

"Thank you for standing for truth," Jenna Ellis tweeted.
