Man Charged After Video Shows Rampage Inside A NYC McDonald’s, Gets Released From Jail Without Bail
A man who was arrested over the weekend after allegedly causing thousands of dollars of damage inside a New York City McDonald’s by using an ax has now been released from jail without bail.
Video shows an intense verbal altercation between several males and 31-year-old suspect Michael Palacios that led to pushing and shoving — which quickly escalated into punches being thrown. After things appeared to cool down for a few moments, some of the men in the video continued shouting at Palacios — who then put down his backpack, opened it up, and pulled out a hatchet.
The moment that Palacios pulled out the hatchet the other men quickly backed off as they begged him to calm down. Video showed Palacios allegedly smashing tables, shattering a giant pane of glass, and aggressively confronting other people in the restaurant.
“The suspect removed an ax from his backpack and menaced the unknown males,” the NYPD said in a statement. “The suspect intentionally caused property damage to the establishment. The individual was taken into custody by responding officers. A search incident to a lawful arrest, an additional knife was recovered from his backpack. Victims did not report any injuries.”
Palacios was arrested fourth-degree criminal-mischief and possession-of-weapons charges.

Palacios was “released without bail at his arraignment” on Sunday, the New York Post reported as none of charges facing the suspect are “eligible for bail under the state’s lenient criminal-justice reforms.”
An alleged witness told the newspaper that the incident started after Palacios got into an argument with a woman who ultimately ended up rejecting him.
“So, basically he got into an argument with a girl, and then the girl rejected him,” the witness said. “She didn’t want to talk to him. He kept going at her.”
Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY), who is the party’s gubernatorial nominee in the state, responded to the incident by saying that it was “just another day in Kathy Hochul’s New York.”
“After we fire Hochul on November 8th, we are taking back our streets!” Zeldin added.
Zeldin later responded to the news that the suspect was freed from jail by writing: “In Kathy Hochul’s New York, you can walk into McDonald’s, use your axe to hack up tables and walls, swinging it wildly at other customers, and be released from custody before your fries get cold.”
“Cashless bail must be repealed!” Zeldin continued. “Judges need discretion to weigh dangerousness.”
