Sunny Hostin Says Women Voting Republican Is Like ‘Roaches Voting For Raid.’ Co-Host Goes Off
“The View” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin sparred with Sunny Hostin Thursday after she compared women voting Republican to “roaches voting for raid.”
Hostin said women voting Republican are “voting against their self interest” since the party, at large, opposes abortion. Griffin said Hostin’s remark is “insulting to the voter” and is anti-democratic.
“I read a poll just yesterday that white, Republican, suburban women are now going to vote Republican,” Hostin said. “It’s almost like roaches voting for raid. They’re voting against their own self interest.”
“Okay, do we love democracy or not?” Griffin interjected. “Because it’s insulting to the voter, people make up decisions about what’s right for their family and the idea that you should have a say for everyone else’s vote.”
“The fact that women voting against their own self interest,” Hostin said.
Griffin called out Hostin’s pro-life stance on abortion due to her Catholic faith. Hostin said that is her personal view and she would not oppose abortion for others.
“But then why is another woman not allowed to have a different view?” Griffin asked.
“In my view, a white, Republican suburban women are voting against their own healthcare,” Hostin said. “I have not really recently evolved on the issue. I am Catholic, that is my faith. I believe that abortion is wrong for me. There’s a separation between government and church and I do not have the right to tell someone else, however, they are voting against their own self interest.”
Co-host Sara Haines argued that all voters have different priorities in the elections, which for her, is election denialism. She claimed that most Republicans have denied the results of the 2020 presidential election and she will thus vote against them.
“You’re not voting for Republicans, you’re voting for a cult!” co-host Joy Behar said. “You got to remember that. It’s a cult, it’s not Republicans anymore.”
Co-host Whoopi Goldberg said that voters should vote on a variety of issues and pick which candidate will take the country in the right direction.
