Romania Authorities Seize Millions In Assets Belonging To Andrew Tate In Trafficking Investigation: Report
Romania law enforcement officials have reportedly seized millions of dollars worth of assets from a Bucharest compound belonging to former kickboxer and social media influencer Andrew Tate amid their sex trafficking investigation into him.
Romania’s National Agency for the Administration of Seized Assets said it seized more than a dozen high-end vehicles, including a Rolls-Royce, a Ferrari, a Porsche, a BMW, an Aston Martin, a Lamborghini, and a Mercedes-Benz.
The officials also seized more than a dozen luxury watches and other assets valued at approximately $4 million USD.
Tate was detained along with his brother Tristan Tate and two other individuals in an investigation into organized crime, human trafficking, and rape.
“The four suspects … appear to have created an organized crime group with the purpose of recruiting, housing and exploiting women by forcing them to create pornographic content meant to be seen on specialized websites for a cost,” prosecutors said. “They would have gained important sums of money.”
Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) alleges that the four suspects operated the criminal enterprise throughout the U.S. and Europe.
Authorities allege that the suspects tricked their victims into “believing that they intended to enter into a marriage/cohabitation relationship” and were later subjected to “physical violence and mental coercion’ and were ‘sexually exploited by group members by forcing them to perform pornographic demonstrations […] for the purpose of producing and disseminating through social media platforms,” the Daily Mail reported.
Although the two events are unrelated, Tate was arrested shortly after he got into a Twitter spat with far-left climate activist Greta Thunberg.
Tate tweeted at Thunberg last month about his extensive car collection.
“Hello @GretaThunberg,” Tate said. “I have 33 cars. My Bugatti has a w16 8.0L quad turbo. My TWO Ferrari 812 competizione have 6.5L v12s. This is just the start. Please provide your email address so I can send a complete list of my car collection and their respective enormous emissions.”
“Yes, please do enlighten me,” Thunberg responded. “Email me at smalld***energy@getalife.com.”
