China Says It’s ‘Ready To Fight’ After Massive Drills Around Taiwan, Releases Animated Video Of Attack

 Communist China is “ready to fight.” 

The U.S. adversary declared its readiness for war after it finished three days of large-scale military exercises around Taiwan on Monday, ABC News reported. Taiwan’s Defense Ministry said that it tracked 91 Chinese fighter jets off its coast during the last day of its exercises after dozens of warplanes crossed the maritime median line of the Taiwan Strait on Sunday. Chinese state media said the warplanes were loaded with live ammunition.

During the exercises, China conducted simulated attacks on “key targets” in Taiwan, and the communist country’s state-affiliated media showed an animated video created by the People’s Liberation Army of an attack on Taiwan.

Taiwanese and Chinese warships had a confrontation on Monday when a Taiwanese frigate warned the Chinese to avoid Taiwan’s contiguous zone. Audio of the incident reportedly revealed that the Chinese responded to Tawian’s warning by claiming, “The 24-nautical mile contiguous zone does not exist. Taiwan is an inalienable part of China.” 

The Chinese ship allegedly ended the conversation by saying, “The People’s Republic of China is the sole legal representative of the whole of China.”

Bejing’s latest threatening actions come days after Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen met with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) in the U.S. last week. 

“As the president, I represent our country in the world, whether it’s a visit to allied countries or stopping through in the U.S. and interacting with our international friends, and not only has this been going on for years, it’s the Taiwanese people’s shared expectation,” Tsai said on Tuesday. “But China used this as a pretext to start military drills, creating instability in the Taiwan Strait and region. This is not the attitude of a responsible major nation in this region.”

Gen. Keith Kellog (Ret.), the former security adviser to Vice President Mike Pence, told Fox News Tuesday that China could invade Taiwan soon, and he’s unsure if the Biden administration “is up to this fight.” 

“[T]his is going to come to a head within two years,” Kellog said. “I think Xi [Jinping] looks at this as a long-range effort. He’s just started his third six-year term and I think what’s going to happen, he says there’s a window of vulnerability within the next two years.”

Many Republican and Democratic lawmakers, under the leadership of McCarthy and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), are standing by Taiwan with some calling for continued arms sales and military assistance to provide security for the country’s independence. 

“We are not afraid,” Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) said, according to POLITICO. “We support our friends in Taiwan. We’re going to keep saying that whenever we have the opportunity, and we’re going to turn those words into action this Congress — bipartisan action — because Taiwan is a small, but very bright candle burning at the edge of a vast authoritarian darkness.”
