IRS Whistleblowers To Testify On Alleged Biden Family Influence Peddling Schemes
Two IRS whistleblowers are set to testify before the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability as Republican lawmakers continue to investigate alleged international influence peddling by the Biden family.
The whistleblowers who will speak before the committee on July 19 are Gary Shapley, who served as IRS supervisory agent on the agency’s investigation into Hunter Biden’s tax affairs, and Whistleblower X, an IRS criminal investigator who has not yet been publicly identified.
“Since taking the gavel in January, the Committee on Oversight and Accountability has made rapid progress in our investigation into the Biden family’s domestic and international business dealings to determine whether these activities compromise U.S. national security and President Biden’s ability to lead with impartiality,” said Rep. James Comer (R-KY), chair of the committee and leader of the Biden investigations.
“From the thousands of financial records we’ve obtained, we know the Biden family set up over 20 shell companies, engaged in intentionally complicated financial transactions with foreign adversaries, and made a concerted effort to hide the payments and avoid scrutiny,” he added.
According to Comer, the whistleblowers will also discuss claims that the Department of Justice gave Hunter special treatment.
“Additionally, these whistleblowers provided information about how the Justice Department refused to follow evidence that implicated Joe Biden, tipped off Hunter Biden’s attorneys, allowed the clock to run out with respect to certain charges, and put Hunter Biden on the path to a sweetheart plea deal. Americans are rightfully angry about this two-tiered system of justice that seemingly allows the Biden family to operate above the law,” he said.
Hunter has reportedly reached a plea deal with federal prosecutors where he will plead guilty to two tax crimes and admit the facts of a gun charge in a plea deal. He is not expected to face any jail time if the deal is approved.
Shapley previously revealed a 2017 WhatsApp message, purportedly from Hunter, invoking President Joe Biden in an apparent attempt to pressure a Chinese businessman into some sort of a deal.
“I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled. Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight,” Biden allegedly wrote in a message to CEFC China Energy executive Henry Zhao. “And, Z, if I get a call or text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang, or the chairman, I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction. I am sitting here waiting for the call with my father.”
